Good Research Practice

  • Keep cuttings next to your PC & highlight good keywords
  • Divide keywords into "Anchors" and "rudders"
  • Keep Word open and paste keywords, notes & images as you go
  • Do a new search on any information found to corroborate it.
  • Check copyright and libel angles
  • Save the site and its images incase of legal problems
  • Take screen grabs and paste into Word
  • If a site disappears look for it in Google Cache or www.archive.org 
  • Open a folder in favourites each programmes research

 

 

 

 


 

Browser Tricks and Hot Keys

  • You can now use Google to search the internet without having to leave ENPS. The Google search window is now an option off the multi-media icon (the one with the camera) on the bottom of your ENPS screen. 

 

  • Take a key word from the text and drag it into the Google search box, so the search, then highlight and drag the text up to your script window.
  • Unlock your toolbar and display "links" bar
  • Type javascript:alert(document.lastModified) into your address bar and drag address icon into your links bar. Rename the button "date checker"
  • "shift clicking" opens preview windows
  • "control + n" opens a copy of the page you are using....(you can then use it for parallel searches) 
  • "control + f" finds words on a page
  • "control + w" closes the window
  • "alt + space + m"  moves the window by using the arrow keys
  • Set new window size - drag it to the requisite size, then shift+close window
