Pre-course exercise for day 1

As part of your preparation for attending the first day of the Investigative Research on the Net course, please perform the following research tasks. 

Be sure to keep a note of how you approached the task, any words that were used in searches, whether you were successful and which sources you found. If you are using a site like Google, please keep a note of how many pages were suggested in response to your word search.

Task 1
What does the "W" stand for in "George W. Bush"

Task 2
Find the official MI5 website

Task 2
Find some Frank Sinatra fan sites

Pre-course Exercise for Day 2

Profile the Swiss company who were accused of supplying the timers used in the Lockerbie bomb. Your research should include:

  • The name of the company

  • The company's web site

  • The company's address and director's name/s

  • Any pre-Lockerbie dealings with Libya

  • Any other interesting information about the company and its history

Please concentrate on the company rather than peripheral issues about Lockerbie.
