Managing New Media Projects Part 1 [01CAP989]

Duration: 3 days

Training fee: £874

Description:
This three-day course incorporates all the core techniques of project management. Delegates will be introduced to a full set of techniques required to manage projects, and equipped to recognise and respond to some of the key factors that may introduce a degree of complexity. Every stage of a typical project is covered and plenty of opportunity is given to practice the techniques.

Who it's for:
Staff involved in digital media who manage projects to develop content and applications for interactive platforms.

Outline:
The course acknowledges the trend to adopt Prince 2 in some departments, by relating the stages and tools to the Prince framework. However, where Prince is a framework for governance and administration of projects, requiring management as well as staff to adhere to its processes, this course focuses on practical methods and tools for delivery. Delegates are empowered to deliver results whatever the governance structure they work within. For those using Prince 2 it will complement their project administration capabilities with practical tools focused on the demands of New Media projects.
Day 1- Creating value with projects. Setting up a project for success by clarifying expectations and outcomes.
Day 2 - Defining and planning projects. Creating the right foundations for a good, practical, plan.
Day 3 - Executing and delivering projects. The practicalities of delivery in a large and complex organisation.
Finally a thorough course review is structured so as to help delegates relate the methods to the needs of their own department.
Outcome:
Evaluate and capture stakeholder and audience needs;
Define how the project adds value by agreeing clear objectives and targets within both the public value framework and their departmental context;
Establish an organisational structure for governance and ensure clarity about decision rights.
