Description:
A practical course focusing on key technical skills required to make programmes for network radio. By the end of the course you will understand location recording using a digital recorder and a variety of microphones; you will be able to conduct and edit an interview using a workshop.

BAs, APs, Producers and others who are involved in the production of live and pre-recorded programmes for network radio We can run a tailored version for your team or department
Aims:
To gain a grounding in the skills required to gather and process material for a network radio production To understand digital workflow To appreciate the other elements required around audio content - web, podcast etc.
Outline:
Day 1 Recording - using a solid state recorder, microphones, location recording Editing - editing on VCS Star Track (brief intro to Sadie BB2/ProTools if required - however these are not the focus of this course) Day 2 Interviewing - structure, purpose & questions Your digital workflow - podcasting, web, visualisation of radio etc Day 3 Practical exercises Editing vox pos Recording & editing interviews Playback and review
Outcome:
You will be able to carry out location recording in a variety of situations You will be able to conduct vox pops and interviews - both on location and down the line You will understand the basics of carrying out a well structured interview with well formed questions You will be able to edit material with VCS Star Track or Sadie BB2 You will understand the basics of digital workflow, VCS Dira and metadata You will have been introduced to the other elements for network radio production - web content, podcasting and future developments
Prerequisites:
You will learn how to use Cool Edit on this course: you must let us know if you want to learn another digital editing system eg Sadie
