With three practical shooting and editing exercises, workshops and individual tutorials, participants gain a thorough grounding in single camera directing on this intensive course.
Who it's for:
assistant producers and researchers with little or no previous experience of single camera directing radio producers who wish to extend their skills to directing TV programmes
Aims:
to use pictures and sound to tell a story in an effective and engaging way to use resources efficiently to achieve optimum results from crew and contributors
Outline:
three shooting exercises: course members prepare, direct and edit (in Avid suites) three short items seminars on the practicalities and creative elements of single camera directing workshops on sound recording, lighting and lenses individual tuition and group review sessions
Outcome:
Course members will have gained practical experience and confidence in: planning and scripting a short factual television story directing a professional crew on location, and communicating effectively with them editing their stories with an experienced editor in a non-linear suite awareness of basic sound recording and lighting techniques effective use of time and resources
Prerequisites:
