This course introduces the principles behind current television systems
Who it's for:
Engineers, technicians, technical operators and technical salespeople who need to understand the basics of broadcast technology
Aims:
To provide a basic understanding of television engineering (a more comprehensive grounding is supplied by the Broadcast Engineering Foundation course) To provide the foundation to progress to more advanced training
Outline:
Principles of television - analogue and digital, standard definition and high definition Standards: digital component, analogue component and composite, audio, AES EBU and SDI Compression of audio and video signals, majoring on principles of MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 pt.10 AVC Measurements: waveform monitors, vectorscopes, test signals Distribution: overview of television networks and transmission, including DVB-S, DVB-T and DVB-C
Outcome:
Delegates will have the basic knowledge and skills needed for work in broadcast TV operation, maintenance and design
Prerequisites:
A working knowledge of basic engineering principles (voltage and current waveforms, modulation, computer network and multiplexing concepts etc) such as can be gained from an appropriate City & Guilds, HNC or degree qualification is a distinct advantage for those attending this course. Training & Development can provide this knowledge via our engineering Foundation courses.
