Virtual studio

Peter Snow on the virtual set for BBC Election Night - Vote 2001.

A computer generated environment, or set, to which actors and objects recorded in a real studio can be added by using blue screen techniques.  At its most complex a virtual set is generated using 3D animation so that any camera movements made in the real studio can be matched by corresponding adjustments to the 3D set.
